About EMF
The European Minerals Foundation is a not-for-profit Foundation registered under Belgian law in Brussels.
MISSION
- To increase knowledge about minerals, particularly within the context of sustainable development under its 3 pillars of the economic, social and environmental areas
- To disseminate information about good practice
- To partner with non governmental organisations (NGOs)
- To promote educational opportunities for schools and colleges
- To develop projects with local communities
HISTORY
The Foundation was established following the success of the MINERALS 98 programme which organised a wide range of activities to promote greater knowledge about minerals by all stakeholders, including local communities and schools.
SCOPE OF ACTION
The MINERALS programmes which followed the Foundation's launch have included such activites as international conferences with legislators, policymakers, industrialists and non governmentals organisations.
They also disseminate information to a wide range of target audiences via a variety of materials, including CD Roms, the web and print media.
WORKING METHODS
The Foundation establishes rolling work programmes which focus on selected themes. These have included Corporate Social & Environmental Responsibility, Sustainable Development and Access to Minerals.
