MINERALS 2005 turned its attention to increasing knowledge about the demand for minerals. It also exchanged information about the need to use primary resources responsibly and to satisfy demand through alternative materials, where possible. In addition, it increased understanding of the geological and environmental constraints associated with mineral extraction. It stressed the importance of practices which build strong community relations in such areas as through good operational and restoration practices.
